WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!
This site is to help you plan your trip to Mazatlán for our big day: 11 May 2024.
Friday 10th, from 5:00pm
This is a dive bar where folks can meet before the wedding day. Suggest eating a meal before coming through. The sunset and drinks is really what we're there for.
Saturday 11th, 5:30pm until 12:30am
Doors will open at 5pm (huge wooden doors @ top of hill) but the ceremony will start promptly at 5:30pm. The reception will follow at the same location.
While by day, Mazatlán is a laid back city where jandals are always good and a day of $1 beers on the boardwalk is perfection, weddings are extravagant events in this state. Everyone dresses like they're going to the Oscars and a wedding is a party first and foremost (hence, adult only). Expect/dress for glamour (full length gowns or suit/ie faitaga with jacket and tie), loud live latin music, lots of dancing, and more smooth tequila than wine.
Buy/rent your gown in México
Ladies will have an easy time finding a dress in Mazatlán in the days before the event because sequin, gem stones, and feathers are standard on wedding (or clubbing) attire. I recommend bringing shoes and dress shopping in Mazatlán.
Past examples: Eduardo's aunt arrived for the wedding above on Thursday, bought a dress Friday & dropped it off for alterations to wear on Saturday. Three of us in the photo above bought our dresses in Mazatlán from a 1st-stop-single-shop.
If you're comfortable with that kind of 1st look buying, we'll have a dress-shop tour Thursday -Join the party!
Make up! This is the day for false eyelashes ... where we can book you time:

Mazatlán has an international airport (MZT). When we fly from New Zealand we usually wait for a sale and book from Auckland to Los Angeles (12hrs), then take the direct flight (2hr 40min) from LA to Mazatlán that runs daily.
There are also direct flights to Mazatlán from Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas. If you are already in Mexico there are direct flights to Mazatlán from Mexico City, Tijuana, Hermosillo, Queretero, La Paz, and Monterrey.
Our wedding will be held overlooking Olas Altas (pictured)
We recommend staying in Mazatlan's historical center (Centro Histórico) or in the Golden Zone (Zona Dorada). We will be based in the Golden Zone for the week.
Understanding the top 4 areas of Mazatlan:
Centro Histórico: Best for sightseeing and historical buildings (can walk or take a very quick ride to venue)
Zona Dorada: Best for resort experiences, beach activities, and nightlife (20 min golf-cart ride from venue)
Malecón: Best for families on vacation, culture, and beaches (this is the area between Centro Historico and Golden Zone, it's Mexico's longest boardwalk)
Marina/Cerritos: Best for water sports and quieter travel (20-30min Taxi ride from venue)
Small airbnbs are the most bang-for-buck option for accommodation. Feel free to ask us about one you find
Hotels we recommend:
Casa Lucila - (Next door to venue)
There are other great options not listed, feel free to ask us about one you find
We will be setting up a home again in the US after our wedding. If you would like to give us a wedding gift, any cash gifts towards furnishing/equipping/decorating our home will be greatly appreciated. Per tradition/norms in Mexico we'll have envelopes at the wedding reception - if you prefer an online transfer/cannot attend, see details below or message one of us:
